 Keisai Eisen The production date: c.1825 (c.Bunsei 8) Publisher: Tsutaya Kichizou This work is from the series of the portrait of popular courtesans from the Yoshiwara pleasure quarter allotted with the landscape of post stations of the Toukaidou Highway. Matsushima was a popular courtesan of the Sanomatsu-ya house. At the right side of the picture, the man’s kimono is hanged from the top of a folding screen. The scene of the cold morning is expressed with a fire in a brazier.
