 Utagawa Hiroshige Ⅲ 1871 In 1872, when the first railway of Japan opened between Shinbashi station and Yokohama station (today’s Sakuragicho station), the railway track between Shinbashi station and Shinagawa station was built on a bank of reclaimed land. This work was published a year before the railway opened, therefore the scenery and the steam locomotive were depicted
