Izumi saburou tadahira from the series Mirroor of Great Generais of Japan

解説かいせつ

Utagawa Yoshikazu 1847-1852 Izumi Tadahira was the third son of Hidehira, the third head of the Oshu branch of the Fujiwara family, with whom Minamoto Yoshitsune had taken refuge. He was also the younger half-brother of the fourth head, Yasuhira. Although he attempted to protect Yoshitsune in keeping with the dying wishes of his father, he was killed by Yasuhira, who then compelled Yoshitsune to commit suicide. Because he built a mansion in the Izumiya district of Hiraizumi, he is also called “Izumi-no-Saburo.”
