 Fukuroi, from the series “Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaidou”

解説かいせつ

 Utagawa HiroshigeⅡ 1854 Fukuroi post station is located at the halfway point of the Toukaidou Highway that started from Nihonbashi to Kyoto. In this picture, the travel scene with a dechaya is illustrated. Dechaya was temporal tea stall and thirsty travelers casually stop by at dechaya enjoyed the provided beverages.
