解説かいせつ

Utagawa Hiroshige The production date:1840 On the Sanjo O-hashi Bridge that crosses over Kamogawa River, various people from different classes, such as a tea-whisk seller, a girl from a noble class who covers her head with kimono, and a samurai who puts up the parasol, are depicted. In the center foreground, the Sanjo O-hashi Bridge is drawn in perspective as is the city of Kyo’s tight housing area on the other side of the river. Also the Kiyomizu-dera temple is illustrated on the right, behind the Kyo housing area on the mountain (although this is not so clear). The mountain floating in the center back effectively shows the depth.
