解説かいせつ

 Utagawa Hiroshige The production date:1840 The scene of ferries crossing the Lake Hamana is illustrated. Maisaka post station was located at the eastern shores of Lake Hamana located at south. In order to get to Lake Hamana from this post station, people had to travel with a ferryboat at Imagire. This series of ukiyo-e is called “The Toukaidou with Kyouka Poems” since a kyouka poem is assorted to every ukiyo-e picture.
