Hodogaya, Sakaigi Tateba (rest place), from the series Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido(Travel along the Toukaidou with Kyouka Poems) |
解説 |
Utagawa Hiroshige 1840 A scenery of a taeba (rest stop) at Sakaigi is illustrated. The bustle of the tateba is suggested from the detailed depictions of people, such as a customer who orders something from a palanquin and travelers enjoying the view from a teashop. By the contrast of the dark pine trees and colorless background, the scene of teashop is colorfully depicted. |
