解説かいせつ

Utagawa Hiroshige 1840 The bird’s-eye view of Shinagawa post station is depicted on the foreground and fisherman’s village is depicted on the background. Even beyond these sceneries, the vast Shinagawa-oki Ocean extends. Not only travelers, but local workers such as a delivery man who carries meals, itinerant fish trader and palanquin porters are depicted. On the left, ships that already take in sails are depicted and the calm ocean is contrasted with busy post station.
