解説かいせつ

Utagawa Hiroshige 1840 A procession of daimyou (high rank samurai) is crossing over on the Nihonbashi Bridge. Beyond the large Nihonbashi Bridge, which is depicted in the middle of picture, the view of the city, the lined storehouses and boats that are at anchored, are depicted with one-point perspective. In a distant, Edo Castle on the right and Mt. Fuji on the left are depicted. The open space of the sky is emphasized with Mt. Fuji depicted as to float on the cloud and keyari (a long spear with an ornament at the end of the spare) that two samurai hold.
