Minamoto no Yoshitsune Prepares a Written Pledge at Ruri-mine Mampuku-ji Temple (Yoshitsune Koshigoe-jou)

解説かいせつ

Natori Syunsen Production date:1912-1926 Yoshitsune fought the battle against Heiji Clan by responding his brother Yoritomo’s command and achieved the great military exploit. He was on his triumphal return to Kamakura as transferring the war criminals Taira no Munemori and his son, but he was refused to enter Kamakura. At Mampukuji Temple in Koshigoe (Kamakura City), Yoshitsune wrote a letter known as “Koshigoe-jou (Koshigoe Letter)” and professing his loyalty to Yoritomo and his feeling. It is said, this treatment of Yoshitsune was influenced by Kajiwara Kagetoki, who took every opportunity to slander Yoshitsune.
