Tsukioka Yoshitoshi Production date:1888 The encounter of Yoshitune and Benkei at Gojo Bridge in Kyoto is one of the famous anecdote of Yoshitsune in his youth, when he still used his childhood name Ushiwakamaru. In this picture, the scene of Ushiwakamaru’s great jump, as he swiftly dodges the longsword attack of Benkei is captured. After this fight, the young Yoshitsune became the master of Benkei. |
