Picture of a Village Girl |
解説 |
Kishida Ryusei move to a rental villa at Kugenuma in Fujisawa city in 1917 (Taisho 6) where his friend Mushanokouji Saneatsu lived. Ryusei needed a change of air since he was infected with tuberculosis. From 1918, he started to draw the portraits of his daughter Reiko. From 1924, he started to appreciate and collect ukiyo-e and sogen-ga (Chinese style painting). He studied Renaissance’s realistic expression but not satisfied with the consequence and returned to the eastern expression. This picture of a village girl was produced under these studies and the girl is depicted with the Nanga (Japanese literati painting) style spontaneous brushwork. |
