 Umezawa From“Famous Places of the Fifty-three Stations of the Toukaidou Highway”

解説かいせつ

 Artist: Chikamaro (Kawanabe Kyousai) Production date: 1863 (Bunkyu 3) Umezawa was a rest station along the Toukaidou Highway, located at the Yamanishi Village (Today’s Ninomiya Town). This place was flourished with many travelers who could not cross the river. Since Sakawa River often swelled by the rain and Odawara post station was located across the river, travelers were forced to take a rest at Umezawa.
