Title Unknown (Pilgrimage to Enoshima Island: A beauty on an ox and a young man)

解説かいせつ

Utagawa Kunisada (Toyokuni III) and Utakgawa Kunimasa III Production date: 1843-1847 (Tempou 14—Kouka 4) A young woman pulling an ox, a woman in the travel outfit and a man porters their luggage are illustrated. At the upper part of the picture, Enoshima Island is illustrated. From the middle of the picture, it seems like an outline of cloud is illustrated horizontally, creates the composition that they are as if walking on a cloud. Since a woman pulling an ox holds a flint, it is suggested that she is going to spark light for the woman on an ox, who holds a cigarette pipe kiseru. At the luggage of the young man sitting on a pole, typical souvenirs of Enoshima Island, Kai-byoubu (Standing screen with a picture created with sea shells) and dried sea urchins are stripped with a cord.
