解説かいせつ

 Wrritten by Kanagaki Robun　 Illustrated by Ochiai Yoshiiku Yaji-san and Kita-san went to the pilgrimage to Ise Shrine, but the pilgrimage to Kotohira-gu Shrine (Kompira mairi) was another popular travel route. In this picture, a man carries a big mask of tengu (Tengu is a legendary creature attached to the mountain and forest.) on his back. Although the size of mask is exaggeratedly big, the pilgrim who made a visit to Kotohira-gu Shrine carried this mask on the back.
