解説かいせつ

 Kusatsu post station was flourished as the fork of two major highways, the Toukaidou Highway and Nakasendou Highway, and the fork is illustrated in the picture. A monkey performer sits at the pedestal of the signpost of the fork and a monkey putting a lead around its neck sits on the signpost.
