 Yakimochizaka．Totsuka: Fifty-three Stations of the Toukaidou Highway

解説かいせつ

 Utagawa Hiroshige Ⅱ（Rissyo） Production date:1865 Around Totsuka post station was known as a place of many slopes and in this picture, “Yakimochi Slope” is illustrated. The slope’s name “yakimochi” came from the toasted rice cake that the tea shops around this slope served for travelers. In this picture, the simple shop is illustrated along the slope. Mt. Fuji illustrated in the background tells the beautiful scenic view from this slope.
