解説 |
Artist: Utagawa Kunisada (Toyokuni III) Production date: 1833 (Tempou 4) In this work, the same composition of Hiroshige’s “Kanagawa, a View from a Teahouse at Dai” from the series “Fifty-three Stations of the Toukaidou Highway” of Hoeidou edition is used as the background. At the Kanagawa post station, “Kanagawa-Minato”, a port where the large ships could dock was located and there were several two-story teahouses where the port can be overlooked. Around this area, many teahouse waitresses were trying to bring the travelers into their shops, and in this picture, a woman is holding the sleeve of a traveler. From the special ornamental hairpins and the manner that she inserts a paper at the obi belt, the foreground woman considered be a Geisha, or a woman entertainer. |
