解説かいせつ

Utagawa Toyoharu production year unknown Ebisu, one of the Seven Gods of Good Fortune, is depicted fishing at Chigogafuchi on Enoshima Island. This auspicious picture is composed of a sunrise, Ebisu, and a sea bream. Utagawa Toyoharu was the founder of the Utagawa school of ukiyo-e. While working on a large number of uki-e, a type of ukiyo-e that employs linear perspective, he established the foundation of nishiki-e landscape pictures by making perspective more accurate than ever before.
