解説 |
Shotei Hokujyu Production date:1818-1830 Hokuju was a pupil of Hokusai. Recently, his study progressed since he was paid attention as an artist who succeeded Hokusai’s style and pursued his own expression of landscape. In this picture, the influence from Hokusai can be identified in the whole composition but he also came up with his own expressions. Using the green and brown colors to express land and expressing cloud with distinctive ten-bokashi (point-graduation effect) are both Hokuju’s original ideas. He probably got these ideas from the copperplate engraving pictures imported from Western countries. |
