This is a kind of guidebook on the world of kyōka, explaining the composition of kyōka poet groups, grading of kyōka, stamps, preferences of the selectors, highly graded kyōka, etc. “Kei” in the title is also read kujiri, which means a tool to remove threads from thread-bound books such as traditional Japanese books. The selectors include famous kyōka poets such as Yomo no Magao, Kyokutei Bakin, Santō Kyōden, and the book’s editor Shikitei Sanba. Shinratei Manzō, who led the kyōka group in Sagami and Fujisawa areas, is also among the selectors. The name of Tsutaya Jūzaburō can also be found in the list of dealers. Shikitei Sanba, editor, is famous for authoring Ukiyoburo and Ukiyodoko which depict daily life of people who frequent public baths and hairdressers. He is also known for supplementing Ukiyo-e Ruikō compiled by Ōta Nanpo.
