The city of Iizuka in Fukuoka Prefecture used to be known as a “coal city” because it contained the Chikuho Coalfield, one of the major coal mines in Japan.
Several mining offices are shown in the city. Iizuka was also the site of the Sumitomo Tadakuma Slag Heap, which was called the “Chikuho Mt. Fuji.”
