Yoshida Hatsusaburou 1928 1928, Senkyoro This painting clearly depicts the Hakone-Yumoto mountain railway, the hot springs of Yumoto and the Imperial Villa, and was a bestseller at the time.

Yoshida Hatsusaburou 1933 The city of Iizuka in Fukuoka Prefecture used to be known as a “coal city” because it contained the Chikuho Coalfield, one of the major coal mines in Japan. Several mining offices are shown in the city. Iizuka was also the site of the Sumitomo Tadakuma Slag Heap, which was called the “Chikuho Mt. Fuji.”

Yoshida Hatsusaburou 1927 These works belong to a trilogy that also includes the Large Bird’s Eye View Map of Kyushu. The City of Fujisawa owns only these two. Prints of all of them were inserted into an issue of the Osaka edition of Mainichi Shimbun newspaper in January 1927, and consequently reached the hands of many readers. The trilogy divides Japan into three parts and presents the Japanese archipelago from mutually different angles.
