This sugoroku board game starts from Nihonbashi Bridge of Tokyo and the goal is Kyoto. There was a different travel route that does not go through post stations of the Toukaidou Highway. In this picture, Oiwake, the folk of Yotsuya is illustrated using a single space and the route goes through places such as Shin’machi of Kanagawa post station, via Sugita, Kanazawa, Kamakura, Enoshima Island and comes back to Fujisawa post station.
At the Fujisawa post station, “satou-zuke (confection)” is illustrated as the local specialty. It was a famous souvenir of Fujisawa, and the sweets shop where satou-zuke was sold during the Edo period still exists today. “Oiwake, the Folk of Yotsuya” is the next space of Fujisawa. A signpost “The Road to Mt. Oyama”, which still exists today, a wood sword , the offering to the Mt. Oyama and pilgrim to Mt. Oyama carrying the omiki-waku (the liquor or water containers) is illustrated at Yotsuya. People used omiki-waku to bring back the liquor dedicated to the shrine and the holy water from Mt. Oyama.
