우타가와 구니사다(3대 도요쿠니)/우타가와 히로시게 1854 This picture illustrated “Chapter of Terute Pulls the Wheeled Cart”, a scene from a play of jyoururi puppet drama and kabuki play, based on the story of Oguri Hangan. Oguri supposed to be riding on the cart that Terute is pulling, but he was removed from this picture since sick figure might not be suitable for the selling ukiyo-e. The background pine forest that Hiroshige illustrated with exaggerated depth emphasizes the harsh and long path to Kumano Gongen Shrine, where Oguri has to pilgrimage for his rebirth.

작자 우타가와 요시토라 발행처: 사와무라야 세키치 이 시리즈 작품은 그림의 상단부에는 하이쿠, 하단부에는 각 역참의 연고 전승과 풍경 등이 그려져 있습니다. 후지사와 그림에서는 상단부에 기카쿠도(하이진의 호즈미에이키)의 하이쿠가, 하단부에는 찻집에서 차를 내미는 여성의 모습이 그려져 있습니다. 표제의 「야마가에리」의 산이란 오야마(아메후리야마)를 가리키며, 여성 뒤쪽의 평상에는 오야마 참배의 상징으로서, 오야마에서 신주를 가지고 돌아가는 용기인 오미키와쿠가 그려져 있습니다. 또 오른쪽에 그려져 있는 기둥은 당시에 막 설치된 「전신주」입니다. 전신주는 각 그림에 그려져 있으며 메이지의 가도를 상징하고 있습니다.
